Councillor Neethan Shan Leads Vibrant Tamil Heritage Month Celebration

Tamil Heritage Month was celebrated with pride and enthusiasm as Councillor Neethan Shan joined members of the Tamil community for a special cultural event that brought generations together in a spirit of unity and tradition. Looking ahead, Councillor Neethan Shan will continue the Tamil Heritage Month celebrations by participating in two major upcoming events at the Scarborough Civic Centre. He will be attending the Toronto-Jaffna Partnership Forum and Scarborough Tamil Heritage Month Reception on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The Toronto-Jaffna Partnership Forum will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by the Scarborough Tamil Heritage Month Reception from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Both events will be held at the Scarborough Civic Centre, located at 150 Borough Drive. These gatherings are expected to bring together community leaders, organizations, and residents to further strengthen ties between Toronto and Jaffna, while continuing to celebrate Tamil heritage and achievements.
Neethan Shan is a dedicated community leader and public servant currently serving as Toronto City Councillor for Scarborough. A longtime advocate for social justice, equity, and community empowerment, he has been actively involved in supporting newcomer communities, youth engagement, and multicultural initiatives. With deep roots in community organizing and public service, Councillor Shan continues to champion issues important to Scarborough residents and works to ensure that the voices of diverse communities are represented at City Hall.
